Position Title: Director of STEAM Reports To: Principal Position Summary: The Director of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) for Grades K-12 is responsible for leading, developing, and implementing a comprehensive STEAM program. This role ensures the integration of interdisciplinary learning, fosters innovation, and supports faculty and students in achieving excellence in STEAM education. Responsibilities: • Oversee the implementation of the STEAM curriculum for grades K-12 (UBD), ensuring alignment with school goals and standards. • Lead professional development for faculty in STEAM best practices and emerging technologies. • Coordinate and supervise STEAM-related extracurricular activities, clubs, and competitions. • Foster partnerships with external organizations, universities, and industry professionals to enhance STEAM opportunities (contributions to the career fair). • Monitor, assess, and disseminate program effectiveness, using data to drive continuous • Develop program goals, milestones, and assign contributors from department. • Communicate achievements to stakeholders, including parents and the broader community. • Unify and provide recommendations for departmental (such as course outlines, pacing calendars, lesson plans, common assessments, grading scales, etc.) • Create a list of professional development opportunities for department members to participate in (quarterly). • Select and order textbook, instructional supplies and equipment. • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and counselors to ensure the proper placement of students. • Provide support for new teachers within their department. • Seeking grant opportunities and allocation of acquired funds to align with school priorities and acquiring at least 1 grant a year. • Recruit new teachers to the department. • Monitor Teachers input of grades weekly in Renweb (2 grades per week in each category=6 grades total) • Oversee all administration paperwork for events and trips within their departments. • Create an observation schedule for the Principal to perform informal observations of the teachers in their departments. • Create agendas/itinerary for weekly department meetings and share it with the principal along with department meeting notes. • Step in at the discretion of administration when they are needed throughout the building. (i.e. class coverage, supervising school activities etc.) • Supervise any events occurring within their department and are encouraged to collaborate with their colleagues. • Implements and monitors SAT/ACT testing. • Completes duties as an Advanced Placement coordinator. • Teaching Courses in Sciences. Qualification • Bachelor’s degree in a STEAM-related field (Master’s preferred). • Teaching certification and experience in grades 6-12. • Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development and program management. • Strong knowledge of current trends in STEAM education and technology integration. • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
