About ICOI The Islamic Center of Irvine (ICOI) is one of the most vibrant and rapidly growing Muslim communities in Southern California. For over two decades, ICOI has been a spiritual, educational, and social hub for thousands of families. We’ve now entered a new chapter with the development of The Village—a community ecosystem of independently run services including a Hifz school, a family gym, a STEM academy, enrichment programs, and entrepreneurial incubators.To lead this next stage, we are seeking a visionary Executive Vice President—a leader with C-level experience who can drive strategy, operations, and community transformation across ICOI and The Village.
Role Summary The Executive Vice President is the highest level executive leader of ICOI. It is distinct from the Board President, who leads the governance body. The Executive Vice President is responsible for strategic vision, fundraising, staff leadership, community engagement, and financial sustainability, and external relations. They will also be responsible for ensuring alignment between our spiritual mission and the growing services of The Village.This role requires a self-motivated, hands-on leader who can think big, operate with a large-scale mindset, and yet roll up their sleeves to make things happen in a nonprofit environment with lean resources. The ideal candidate thrives in the intersection of vision and execution, knowing how to inspire others while taking personal ownership to get things done.This role requires proven senior leadership, particularly in corporate settings, with a passion for Islamic service, community-building, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Growth
  • Develop and lead a long-term vision for ICOI and The Village, ensuring alignment with community needs and Islamic values.
  • Coordinate programs, internal teams, and independent operators within The Village to function as a unified, mission-aligned ecosystem.
  • Advise & Partner with The Village operators—especially incubators—on business strategy, product offerings, and operational strategy.
Fundraising & Financial Stewardship
  • Fundraising is a core responsibility. Lead capital campaigns, build strong donor pipelines, and establish diversified revenue streams.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Committee and Board to maintain financial health and transparency.
External Relations & Public Engagement
  • Serve as the public face of ICOI in dealings with the City of Irvine, public safety, interfaith organizations, and local civic partners.
  • Build and sustain high-trust relationships that elevate ICOI’s presence and partnerships.
Organizational Leadership & Culture
  • Cultivate a values-driven, service-first internal culture rooted in Islamic ethics.
  • Provide oversight and mentorship to senior leadership & staff development
  • Align internal processes and community programs for efficiency, unity, and spiritual impact.
Board & Committee Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and key strategic committees.
  • Report on performance, risks, and strategic opportunities.
Ideal Candidate Profile We’re looking for a dynamic, strategic, approachable, and Islamically grounded leader with the following background:
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience—ideally at the C-level or executive level in corporate America or major nonprofits.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation, and capital campaigns.
  • Strong financial management understanding and experience.
  • Strong business and/or entrepreneurship experience, especially valuable in advising The Village incubators.
  • Nonprofit leadership experience—particularly in faith-based, community-driven organizations.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative, drives execution, and doesn’t hesitate to get involved at every level
  • Experience balancing corporate-scale thinking with nonprofit-level budgets and resources, including a willingness to roll up their sleeves and personally lead in both strategic and operational work.
  • Deep connection to the Muslim community, including involvement in Islamic activism, service, or education.
  • Islamic knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of the American Muslim experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Business, Nonprofit Management, Islamic Studies, or a related field.
