Experience Details Essential • Able to work flexibly and creatively with strong planning, organisational, and record-keeping skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication, computer literacy, and the ability to produce regular reports. • Skilled in building and maintaining effective relationships with local communities, faith groups, staff at all levels, fellow Chaplains, prison visitors, and volunteers. • Confident in engaging with, targeting, and recruiting from various community groups. • Proficient in public speaking, leading groups, delivering programmes, and conducting corporate acts of worship. • Able to perform all spoken aspects of the role confidently in English or Welsh (if specified in Wales)., In-depth knowledge of Islam, ideally with a recognised graduate-level qualification in Islamic Studies. • Minimum of three years' proven experience as an Imam, including worship delivery, group work, and pastoral care. • Formal endorsement from the Prison Service Muslim Adviser at Chaplaincy HQ (required prior to appointment). Desirable • Experience working with diverse faith and community groups. • Experience within a prison setting. • Background in a Chaplaincy Team (e.g., prison, hospital, education) or other prison departments. • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively. • Experience in fundraising.
