The Role of a Police Chaplain

The role of a Police Chaplain is to counsel law enforcement officers, administrative and other staff members. They also counsel family members of law enforcement officers, including visiting sick or injured officers and departmental personnel in homes and hospitals. The chaplains also make death notifications, provide assistance to victims of crime. Additionally, chaplains also help officers with stress management, assist with suicide incidents, amongst other roles. Furthermore, chaplains liaise with other clergy in the community, provide spiritual needs of prisoners, and provide expert responses to religious matters. As more and more Muslims are joining the forces in the UK, there is a need for Muslim chaplains to give them the pastoral and religious support that these officers will need.
