JOB OBJECTIVE The Advocacy and Partnerships Intern will assist the Department of Global Marketing and Communications. This is a hybrid position with some in-person activities both in Washington, DC and in Fairfax, VA. The intern will work closely with our team to further the mission of Human Appeal USA through advocacy and communications. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Contribute to research projects and profile through expanding digital real estate, writing, research and analysis, and engagement with various stakeholders.
  • Support coordination and operation efforts for various activities and tasks.
  • Participate in internal & external meetings and write internal memos or blogs for website.
  • Event support for summer advocacy activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

LEARNING OUTCOME The intern will gain invaluable grassroots advocacy, communications and events experience, as well as insight into NGO federal advocacy, government affairs, coalition building and media relations.  The intern will also learn about the work and functions of other divisions within our organization including Marketing, Volunteer, and Programs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard and view a computer terminal.  Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
  • May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand and walk.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or move light to medium weight up to twelve (12) pounds and/or exert up to twelve (12) pounds of force.
